The Oracle MySQL database has an Enterprise Edition , and included with that subscription is MySQL Enterprise Monitor which is a tool to monitor and manage MySQL databases. The latest release of MySQL Enterprise Monitor is version 3.3, recently released in September (during the Oracle Open World week) and now generally available. In this version, there is a new Backup Dashboard . This is deeply integrated with MySQL Enterprise Backup which allows you to perform hot, online, non-blocking backups on multiple platforms of MySQL, including Linux, Windows, Mac & Solaris. Using the Backup dashboard, you can easily visualize critical backup activities and make sure that your databases are fully protected. A screenshot is seen below. As we can see, it is possible to monitor backup metrics for your high-level MySQL topology or individual groups, and drill in to view all key metrics and details for individual backups of specific instances. There are also Best Practice Advisors, using which you can ensure that your backup jobs are running as expected. These can alert you as soon as potential problems are detected. Another new feature in version 3.3 is Named Filters , whereby you can focus on common problems even more easily. These shortcuts can be used to quickly select your preferred search criteria on views throughout the product, such as those for: Instances, Events, Query Analyzer, and the All Timeseries Graphs. There are also some pre-defined filters for: "MySQL Instances using an EOL version", "Old MySQL Enterprise Monitor Agent Installations", "Currently Open Emergency Events", and more. In addition to the pre-defined filters, it is also possible to assign a name to your own favorite search conditions for easy reuse across sessions.
