I was using a trial of an Oracle Cloud service to demonstrate the capability for a customer. He just called me to say that the sample I built for him was gone. Indeed it was, because it was 30 days since I requested the trial. It turns out you don't get any warning when your time is up, only an email saying "The following service has expired". And not just expired as in "can be reactivated". I contacted support and they explained that my trial had been completely wiped and purged from the cloud. Real cloud vendors offer an expiry warning and a possibility to extend. Oracle doesn't. That's why my customer won't be going to the Oracle cloud.
