Oracle continues to try to position themselves as a cloud company in both IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. However, analysts are not convinced. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for "Cloud Infrastructure as a Service" from August 3, 2016 does not include Oracle at all, saying " at the time of this evaluation, the Oracle Compute Cloud Service was not in general availability, and Oracle did not have another cloud IaaS offering in general availability that meets Gartner's definition of IaaS. " Ouch. In the Magic Quadrant for cloud storage, Oracle does make the cut, but down in the niche players category. Oracle has their work cut out for them if they want to convince anybody outside their current customer base to buy cloud infrastructure from Oracle.
