Friends, Pleased to let you know that my Oracle Database Cloud Cookbook has been published by Oracle Press on August 5th 2016. I have written this latest book specifically for IT professionals and DBAs wanting to know more about the Oracle Private/Hybrid Database Cloud using the latest Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c. I have been told by the publisher that the book will also be available in the upcoming Oracle Open World (OOW). A bit of history. My first technical book was on Microsoft FoxPro way back in 1995. This was followed by two books on Oracle Enterprise Manager. The first was on Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10g/11g, and the second book was on Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c and published in December 2012. So, this is my third book on Enterprise Manager. It focuses on the Private/Hybrid Database cloud, and could possibly be the first book in the world on the new version of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c. I have included the set up and workings of Database as a Service, Snap Clone as a Service, Schema as a Service, and Pluggable Database as a Service along with setting up chargeback for all of these. The book also explains how to use the RESTful API for performing DBaaS, SCHaaS and PDBaaS. I also included step by step instructions to set up the Oracle Database Hybrid Cloud using the Enterprise Manager Hybrid Gateway to connect to the Oracle Public Database Cloud. Of course, as always, the book is my personal writing and does not represent the views of Oracle Corporation. I have concentrated on the Oracle private database cloud and the hybrid cloud using Enterprise Manager 13c, which is the practical thing to write on since most companies using Oracle are currently in that state - they have a lot of Oracle databases in house, they may be using Enterprise Manager, and they are starting to use the cloud databases. So this book is quite practical in that sense. Regards, Porus Homi Havewala (OCM).
