Hi, Oracle12 Enterprise Manager helps you clone databases quickly. Features include using database features (such as RMAN, Data Pump, and Data Guard) to do full clones or using the storage unit’s ability to do thin clones (Oracle Solaris, NetApp, and EMC). Enterprise Manager 12c supports both full and thin database clones for end-to-end automation of production databases to dev/test/QA databases. EM12c also allows for masking, sub setting, and patches. This feature is designed with the DBA in mind and is available via Admin Flows or Self Service Portals. It appears to me that these features are available in the Enterprise Manager Cloud Management Pack. This pack includes: Self-Service Provisioning: supports databases, schema, and PDBs Database Cloning: full clones and snap clones (thin clones) Enterprise-wide Service Catalog: role based, single catalong to enforce standardization across the DB estate Quota and Policy based management: envorces governance and control Metering and Chargeback: supports database, schema, PDBs Compreshensive REST and EMCLI APIs: supports for all self service and admin functions EM12c Release 2 supports: Snap Clone for NAS Storage (NetApp, Sun ZFSSA) RMAN backup based clones Snap Clone Analyzer to show storage savings EM12c Release 3 supports: Snap Clone using Solaris File System (ZFS) Solaris 11.1+ Supports NAS or SAN Does Not require snapshot/clone licenses Snap Clone for PDB (Admin Flows) EM12c Release 4 supports: Snap Clone using CloneDB Uses RMAN image copies Uses NFS v3 client Uses dNFS Supports single instance databases Oracle11.2.0.3+, 12.1 Data Guard Standby as Test Master NetApp Ontap 8.x cluster mode Certification for Engineered Systems (Exadata), I/O over 1B Supports NFS storage Supports Solaris Zones or LDOMS Uses infiniband Support for NFSv4 EM12c Release 4+ supports: Data Lifecycle Management Snap Clone using EMC SAN and ASM Ability to create ‘live’ thin clones on ASM Supports EMC VMAX and VNX storage appliances Supports SI and RAC Oracle 10.2.0.5+ Admin Flows for test master creation Integration with masking, patching, upgrades, etc I sat in on this Oracle Corp presentation at RMOUG 2015. Let me know if you would like a copy of the presentation slides. I hope you find this information useful. Dan Hotka Oracle ACE Director Author/Instructor/CEO
