We are showcasing some new features for the Oracle Compute Cloud Service (IaaS) from June onwards. This is the second part of the blog post. New fields have been added to the Create Instance wizard that allow you to enable RDP (remote desktop connection) access to a Windows instance and specify the Administrator password. Before this, the only way to do this was by entering the required parameters in JSON format in the Custom Attributes field. You can now view metrics such as OCPU and memory usage for your instances in Oracle Cloud.. My Services. You can also configure thresholds to receive alerts for a specific metric for an instance. More information on Instance metrics is here and on configuring alert rules is here . Previously you could create and manage storage volume snapshots only from the web console. Now, you can use the POST /storage/snapshot/ method to create a storage volume snapshot using the API, and the GET /storage/snapshot/ method to view storage volume snapshots or the DELETE /storage/ snapshot/ method to delete existing snapshots. For more information, see the REST API for Oracle Compute Cloud Service (IaaS) manual here . You can also now use the GET /instanceconsole/name method to retrieve the console output of an instance using the API. Previously, you could only view the instance console log from the web console. This is also explained in the REST API for Oracle Compute Cloud Service (IaaS) manual here . This REST API manual now also includes a Use Cases section, outlining the end-to-end flow required to complete tasks that involve multiple steps using various REST API calls. This use cases section should be useful.
