What’s new for the Oracle Compute Cloud Service? First, both metered and non-metered options of Oracle Compute Cloud Service are now generally available. Second, you no longer need to subscribe for 50 or 100 OCPU configurations. Instead, you can specify even 1 OCPU subscription. Third, bursting is now available in the case of a non-metered subscription. This means you can provision resources up to twice the subscribed capacity if required by your business demands. Whatever additional usage you incur will be charged per hour and billed each month. Pricing information can be seen on https:// cloud.oracle.com/compute , click on the Pricing tab. Another new feature is that Oracle is now providing images for Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition and Oracle Solaris 11.3. From now on, you can clone storage volumes by taking a snapshot of a storage volume and using it to create new storage volumes. You also can clone an instance by taking a snapshot and then use the resulting image to launch new instances. You can now also increase the size of a storage volume, even in the case when it’s attached to an instance. Lastly, the command line tool for uploading custom images to Oracle Storage Cloud Service (renamed to uploadcli, previously called upload-img) now supports various operating systems. For more information there is a tutorial “Uploading a Machine Image to Oracle Storage Cloud Service” that you can access at this link .
