Blog Post: Oracle In-Memory Features - Part 5

Hi, I sat in on Andy Rivenes ppt at the recent RMOUG Training Days. He is the Oracle Product Manager for the newer In-Memory feature of the Oracle12 database. Last week I illustrated how to assign tables to the in memory structures and use the column store features. This will be the last in this series and I’ll show some useful monitoring and advise views associated with IM that I found in the Oracle documentation. Andy also provided some links to some additional papers and useful information. This series of blogs will cover setting up and adding objects to the in-memory column store. I have already illustrated V$SGA…shows summary information about the system global area, including the in-memory structures if configured. V$SGAINFO shows the SGA components, their size, and their free memory. V$SGASTAT shows more details about the shared pool (the library cache), and the other buffer pools. V$IM_SEGMENTS shows all of the segments currently in the column store. Here is some additional In Memory useful information: https://oracle-base.com/articles/12c/in-memory-column-store-12cr1 http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/SQLRF/statements_3001.htm#CIHJBHBF http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/ADMIN/memory.htm#ADMIN11237 Dan Hotka Oracle ACE Director Author/Instructor/CEO
