I just noticed a new buzzword in the abstract for an upcoming Oracle CloudWorld session. One of them is supposedly going to include "Oracle's Rapid Mobile Application Development (RMAD) tools, which help non-technical business users, easily create enterprise-grade mobile apps!" That sounds a lot like the Oracle Mobile Application Accelerator (MAX) that we have been hearing about for quite a while. This tool is supposed to allow a "citizen developer" build a mobile application based on data services provided either by cloud applications or built by developers and deployed to Mobile Cloud Service. MAX does pop up occasionally, for example in a technology overview blog post by Oracle from January. Unfortunately, the only official statement that MAX exists at all is still a press release from September 2014 (!). From the demos at OpenWorld 2014 and 2015, this looks very interesting. But it seems Oracle has a hard time getting it out the door. Maybe because mobile is dead ?
